# Low-Cost Development Framework and Treatment of Engineers in Developing Countries

We received a question at a recent business networking event, so we'd like to share our response.

At X-edutainment, we develop custom business applications—what we call "more than Excel, less than a full system"—tailored to each client's specific needs.

A typical custom system development might cost several million yen, but we can deliver solutions at roughly 1/10th to 1/20th of that price range.

Someone asked: "How can you charge so little? Are you exploiting cheap labor from developers in developing countries?" So let me explain.

To be clear from the outset: we do not differentiate labor costs between engineers in developing countries and Japanese engineers.

We pay the same rate for the same work, regardless of whether the engineer is Japanese or from another country.
