Recently, I've been feeling eye strain from looking at displays too much, so when Amazon released a Color E-Ink version of the Kindle device, I was quite interested.
…However, the thing is, it can only read Kindle books, right? It doesn't have web browsing capabilities, and you can't read SmartNews or other e-books either, so…
Then I found something like this.
An Android tablet with Color E-Ink that's easy on the eyes—a Chinese-made device called the Bigme B751C.
It was around 30,000 yen on Amazon, so I went ahead and bought it lol
The color reproduction is worse than I imagined—it looks like a faded, sun-damaged photograph—but it does seem to be better for my eyes.
I used to need my smartphone before bed, but since switching to this, I've noticed less eye fatigue.
Since it's a Chinese-made tablet, I am somewhat concerned that personal information might be extracted and data handed over to the Communist Party, but well, it's not like I have anything particularly sensitive on there, so I guess it's fine lol
